Be Ye Perfect

The Jesus says in Matthew 5:48 "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Wow, we say, how can we do this when we are "just" human. Well, first we are not "just" human we are a new creature! 2 Corinthians 5:16-17 says Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now hencforth know we him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL things are become new. Again, in Galatians 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. We are not "just" human we are a new creature. Jesus would not command us to do something He thought we could not do. In 1 John 3:6 it says Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not...the key to being perfect is ABIDING in Christ. Walk in the Spirit and we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 2 Peter 1 says in verse 10 ...for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall! What things we say we must read what proceeds this verse. verses 5-10 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: FOR IF YE DO THESE THINGS, YE SHALL NEVER FALL! Brothers and sisters we have a high calling. We must ask for revelation to see this truth. We cannot have any idols in our hearts. What is an idol. I used to think about the Israelites and how they went to direct idol worship and think, well, that is not me. I don't have any "idols" in my life until the Lord opened my eyes to the truth that anything that is more important to us than Jesus is an idol. He doesn't care what it is. Our TV's, movies, shows, music (any kind), computers, cars, vacations, friends, family, husbands, wives, children, horses, jewelery, technology, work, religion, or ANYTHING ELSE we put before our relationship with Jesus! We can have no secrets with God. We need to give Him all of us before He can fill us with His spirit so we can be perfect. But, us, insignificant man can do none of this on our own! Ahhh! how are we suppose to be perfect if we cant "do" it? Romans tells us that there is none that seeketh after God! How did Paul do these things? Jesus called Him. In Acts 26:17 Delivering thee from the people...Jesus delivered him...not Paul doing it on his own. And let us also take a look at John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you... that's right my friends, He chooses us! Let me leave you with this, PRAY: ask God to open your eyes. Ask Him to let you know that you know that you are His. Knock and the door will be opened unto you. Seek Him with ALL your heart and you will find Him. Be honest with Him about how you can't do it on your own and you need Him to make your hands clean and your heart pure. Tell him you need Him to do in you what you are powerless to do in and through yourself. Jesus is the answer!

Praying

My God, my King, have Your way with me. Make me. Mold me. Shape me into Your image.Create in me a clean heart and fill me with Your power. Take over my life and throne of my heart. Move in this temple and make me holy and give me clean hands. I want to be filled with the Holy Spirit and have the power of God move in and through me and my being. I am wanting and longing for You my King and Savior to be all present in my life. I want You to take over my life and live in and through me the life You want to live. Give me boldness and wisdom to speak Your word to a lost and dying world. Let me speak Your truth to all men and not be ashamed of the Gospel. Let me know You and Your word to the fullest and let it not be held back in my life. Live Your life through me and fill me with You. Let Your word be established in my being and let Your mighty power fill me. Let me know You and Your ways. Whatever the cost and whatever the price I don't care what You have to do. FILL ME! Take full control of my heart and soul and body and mind. Let me have understanding and knowledge of the Scriptures. Let me have Your life and will fulfilled in me and this vessel. Let not the world entangle me in its webs. Let me hate the things You hate and let me love the things You love. Let me think Your thoughts and let me feel Your anguish. Let me know how it is to want Your people to come to know and understand You to the fullest. I don't want the world or the things of this world. Let me be conformed to the image of Your precious Son Jesus Christ. I want You and I want You to know all of me and my thoughts and my heart. Hold nothing back in my life. Use me for whatever You want and let me be used by You to the fullest. I want all of You and none of me. Thank You for taking all the secular music, "Christian" music, "Christian" rock, "Christian" rap, movies, shows, sitcoms. late night shows, stand up comedians, and anything else the world had to offer me out of my life. Thank You for replacing it with You and desires for You. All I want is You and all I need is You my King and Lord. Continue to give me a hatred for the things You hate. Father, I ask you to take any more of the world in my that I know about and don't know about. Free me from sin and make me holy. I want to be holy and pure before You and I want to live how You would have me to live. I want to know your word and have it in my heart and soul to preach to the world. I know You have great things for me and can't wait anymore for them to be fulfilled. I pray that You would finish the work You started in me and make me into the image of Your precious Son Jesus Christ. I love you with all I am and can't wait to see Your plans for me unfold. I love You my King and Lord. Make Yourself Lord of my life. In Your precious Sons name which I am not worthy to say, Amen.

Watchman Nee WOW!!!

God's Dynamic Salvation Work

Beginning in the sixteenth century, many Protestant missionaries were sent to China from Europe and America. In the opening years of the twentieth century, following centuries of faithful labor and catalyzed by the martyrdom of many Christians in the Boxer Rebellion, the Lord's move in China advanced dramatically. Many "native" preachers were raised up by the Lord and became prevailing in gospel preaching, especially around 1920 among China's new generation of high school and college students. A number of brilliant students, among whom was Nee Shu-tsu (Watchman Nee), were called and equipped by the Lord to do His work during this time.
Nee Shu-tsu, whose English name was Henry Nee, was born of second-generation Christian parents in Foochow, China in 1903. His paternal grandfather, in fact, had studied at the American Congregational College in Foochow and became the first Chinese pastor among the Congregationalists in northern Fukien province. Nee Shu-tsu had been consecrated to the Lord before his birth. Desiring a son, his mother had prayed to the Lord, "If I have a boy, I will present him to You." The Lord answered her prayer, and soon afterward Nee Shu-tsu was born. His father later impressed on him, "Before you were born, your mother promised to present you to the Lord".
Prior to his salvation Nee Shu-tsu was an ill-behaved student, yet he was also exceptionally intelligent. He always ranked first in his class as well as in his school, from elementary school through his graduation from Anglican Trinity College in Foochow. He had many grand dreams and plans for the future and could have had great success in the world. Yet Nee Shu-tsu, acquainted with the gospel since childhood, had the deep realization that if he received Jesus as his Lord for salvation he must also serve Him. In 1920, after a considerable struggle, seventeen-year-old Nee Shu-tsu, still a high school student, was dynamically saved. At the moment of his salvation, all his previous planning became void and his future career was entirely abandoned. He testified, "From the evening I was saved, I began to have a new life, for the life of the eternal God had entered into me". Later, after being raised up by the Lord to carry out His commission, he adopted the new English name Watchman and the new Chinese name To-sheng, which means "watchman's rattle," for he considered himself a watchman raised up to sound a warning call in the dark night.

Equipping and Training

Watchman Nee attended no theological schools or Bible institutes. His wealth of knowledge concerning God's purpose, Christ, the things of the Spirit, and the church was acquired through studying the Bible and reading spiritual books. Watchman Nee became intimately familiar with and greatly enlightened by the Word through diligent study using twenty different methods. In addition, in the early days of his ministry he spent one-third of his income on his personal needs, one-third on helping others, and the remaining third on spiritual books. He acquired a collection of more than 3,000 of the best Christian books, including nearly all the classical Christian writers from the first century on. He had a phenomenal ability to select, comprehend, discern, and memorize relevant material, and he could grasp and retain the main points of a book at a glance. Watchman Nee was thus able to glean all the profitable scriptural points and spiritual principles from throughout church history and synthesize them into his vision and practice of the Christian life and of the church life. Watchman Nee received much enlightenment and help from a number of Christian writers, as follows:

Watchman Nee became familiar with many of these books through Margaret Barber, a former Anglican missionary. Early in his Christian life he received much spiritual edification and perfection from her. Primarily through his fellowship with Miss Barber, Watchman Nee realized that to be a Christian is altogether a matter of the divine life. Through her shepherding, he learned to pay more attention to life than to work and to live by Christ as his life.

Revelation and Living

Through his fellowship with Miss Barber and others, along with his study of the Bible and numerous spiritual books, Watchman Nee received a wealth of revelation. He was truly a seer of the divine revelation. The core of his revelation was threefold: it concerned (1) the living of a crucified life, (2) the living of a resurrected life, and (3) the issue of such a living, the church. Related to the crucified life, he saw and experienced the subjective aspects of Christ's death. He realized that he had been crucified with Christ, that it was no longer he that lived, but Christ Who lived in him. He also realized that in order to experience the death of Christ in a subjective way, he needed to bear the cross. Although he had been crucified with Christ in fact, he also had to remain in Christ's crucifixion in his experience. He learned that to remain in Christ's crucifixion was to bear the cross by refusing to allow the old man or the flesh to leave the cross. He realized that in order for him to have such an experience, God must sovereignly arrange his environment, making it a practical cross for him to bear. This is exactly what God did throughout Watchman Nee's life.
From the very beginning of his ministry, God arranged numerous situations in which he had the opportunity to deny the self and the natural life by bearing the cross and living by Christ as his life. Watchman Nee saw that he had not only died with Christ, but had also risen with Him. The resurrected Christ with the fullness of the Spirit had become his life. It was by the resurrection life of the indwelling Christ that he was able to bear the cross and to participate in the fellowship of His sufferings and be conformed to His death. By the resurrection life of Christ, he abandoned the world, forsook his future, denied himself, was freed from sin, and overcame Satan. It was also by the resurrection life of Christ that he served the Lord, worked for Him, and carried out His commission. His contemporaries bore witness to the fact that he consistently rejected his natural strength in the Lord's service. He feared the intrusion of his natural life into the Lord's work; he therefore dared not minister apart from the indwelling Christ. In delivering messages, contacting people, writing articles, corresponding with the believers, and in mundane matters, he acted not by himself but by the resurrection life. It was by living such a resurrection life that he was able to pass through his extended martyrdom of twenty years' imprisonment, which culminated in death.
Watchman Nee went on to see that the church as the Body of Christ was simply the enlargement, expansion, and expression of the resurrected Christ. His vision that Christ in resurrection was the life and content of the church was far advanced. According to this vision, he not only ministered by the resurrected Christ, but he also ministered the resurrected Christ Himself to the believers for the building up of His Body. He frequently emphasized the fact that anything which is not Christ in resurrection is not the church, and anything not done by the resurrected Christ is a foreign element in the Body. He desired to serve the church with nothing but the resurrected Christ. The more his ministry progressed, the more he ministered the resurrected Christ to the believers and to the local churches. The resurrected Christ became not only his life and living, but also his message and ministry.

Burden and Commission

The divine revelation which Watchman Nee saw resulted in the Lord's twofold burden and commission to him: first, to bear a particular testimony of the Lord Jesus, and second, to establish local churches. The first burden and commission arose from his personal depth of knowledge and experience of Christ's all-inclusive death and resurrection. The Lord specifically burdened and commissioned him to bear testimony to this truth. He faithfully responded to this burden by releasing a number of spoken and written messages on the subjective aspect of the Lord's crucifixion and resurrection, on the principles of life, on the supremacy of Christ, and on God's eternal purpose.
However, Watchman Nee's ultimate burden was not just to elevate the individual believers' experience of Christ, but to establish and build up the practical corporate expression of Christ in the local churches for the satisfaction of God's desire. This was the ultimate commission he received from the Lord based on what he had seen and experienced of Him. His personal testimony recorded on October 20, 1936 described this commission:
What the Lord revealed to me was extremely clear: Before long He would raise up local churches in various parts of China. Whenever I closed my eyes, the vision of the birth of local churches appeared...
When the Lord called me to serve Him, the primary objective was not to hold revival meetings, help people hear more scriptural doctrines, or for me to become a great evangelist. The Lord revealed to me that He desired to build up local churches in various places to manifest Himself and to bear the testimony of unity on the ground of the local churches. In this way, each saint [believer] is able to function in the church and live the church life. What God wants is not individuals trying to be victorious or spiritual; He wants a corporate glorious church presented to Himself.

Sufferings

Watchman Nee saw an undeniable vision and received a definite commission from the Lord concerning the church, and he suffered greatly due to his faithfulness to them. Because the vision was so clear and the commission so real, it did not matter to him that he was rejected, opposed, and condemned. He anticipated this response and was determined to pay any price for the commission he had received of the Lord. His faithfulness to this commission ultimately cost him his life. His profound revelation combined with his selfless sufferings issued in a rich ministry of life according to the Lord's commission to him: the unique New Testament ministry of Christ and of the church.
Watchman Nee endured much suffering for the sake of the New Testament ministry. Due to his absoluteness in following the Lord and his faithfulness in fulfilling the Lord's commission, he underwent frequent mistreatment as well as lifelong hardships. Because he unwaveringly fought the battle for the Lord's move, he was under constant attack from God's enemy. At the same time, he was also under God's sovereign hand. He recognized the sovereign arrangements of God in his environment not merely as a divinely apportioned "thorn in the flesh," but more importantly, as a means by which God was able to deal with him. Due to both the enemy's attacks and God's faithful environmental dealings, Watchman Nee lived a life of suffering. The majority of his sufferings came from five sources: poverty, ill health, various denominations, dissenting brothers and sisters in the local churches, and imprisonment.
In the early years of Watchman Nee's ministry, the economic situation in China was desperate. Because of what he saw in the Word, he was exercised to live purely and singly by faith in God not only for his living, but also for every aspect of the Lord's work. Hence, he steadfastly refused employment by any person or organization. In the early days of his ministry in Shanghai, there were times when all he had to eat each day was a little bread.
Watchman Nee was also frequently afflicted with serious ill health. For the first eleven years of his ministry, beginning in 1922, he suffered alone, with no wife to help him. During this time he contracted tuberculosis and suffered acutely for several years. In 1934 at the age of thirty, however, Watchman Nee married a true "help meet," Charity Chang, although the Lord was to give them no children. In later years, he was also stricken with a chronic stomach disorder as well as angina pectoris, a serious heart ailment. He was never cured of the heart disease and could have died from it at any moment. In fact, many times he ministered not by physical strength but by resurrection life.
He also suffered for his belief that, according to the Bible, denominations are wrong in that they divide the one Body of Christ. Because his firm stand for the oneness of the Body of Christ was a testimony against the denominations, they caused him much suffering. Some despised, criticized, opposed, and did their best to destroy his ministry. They also spread false rumors about him and misrepresented him to the extent that Watchman Nee once responded, "The Watchman Nee portrayed by them I would also condemn."
A number of brothers and sisters meeting with the local churches became another source of suffering to Watchman Nee. He found this type of suffering by far the most painful. Some of these believers caused a great deal of trouble due to their dissention, immaturity, incompetence, stubbornness, ambition for position, or rebelliousness. Two years after the church life began to be practiced in Watchman Nee's hometown in 1922, he was even temporarily excommunicated by his own coworkers because of his stand for the truth of the Scriptures, when he protested the ordination of the leading coworkers by a denominational missionary. Although most of the believers meeting with them sided with Watchman Nee, the Lord would not allow him to do anything to vindicate himself. That was a deep suffering to his natural man.
The final source of suffering was his groundless condemnation and imprisonment. Watchman Nee was arrested during the Communist Cultural Revolution in March 1952 and was judged, falsely condemned, and unjustly sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment in 1956.
Watchman Nee was a man of sorrows and suffering. Along his entire path of following the Lamb, he suffered much. Through all these sufferings, however, he learned many lessons. These sufferings not only helped him learn to trust the Lord; they also benefited him in dealing with his flesh, his self, his soul, and his natural life. Due to his obedience to these dealings, he never passed on mere teachings and doctrines, for his messages contained the reality he had acquired through his sufferings. The experience he gained through his suffering served as an immeasurable help to all those under his ministry and also became a rich heritage to all the local churches, a heritage acquired by him at the ultimate price.
His sufferings also helped him to receive further revelation from the Lord. Certain kinds of suffering often issued in corresponding revelation. His sufferings thus often became the Lord's revelation to him. He was purified, dealt with, broken, and constituted by the Holy Spirit with the divine life through his sufferings. Through such experiences of Christ within his sufferings, he, like Paul, was prepared and positioned to receive the Lord's revelation.

Means of Ministry

Watchman Nee's rich ministry of life was the issue of his revelation and suffering. He used eight different means to carry out the ministry wrought into him by the Lord: preaching the gospel, teaching the Bible, traveling, contacting people, corresponding with people, holding conferences, conducting trainings, and producing publications.
Watchman Nee not only spoke frequently both privately and publicly, but he was also a prolific writer. His publications included gospel tracts, periodicals, papers, newsletters, books, hymnals, and a chart of biblical prophecies. For more details on his writings and a list of selected titles, please see Publications.

Relationship with Witness Lee

Watchman Nee's closest co-worker was Witness Lee. Having been raised as a Southern Baptist, Witness Lee was saved in 1925 at the age of nineteen. That year Witness Lee began to seek to thoroughly know the Bible and found Watchman Nee's articles and publications to be the most outstanding on biblical truths. He soon began to correspond with Watchman Nee and was astonished that someone only two years older than he was such a mature Christian. It was not until 1932, when Witness Lee invited Watchman Nee to Chefoo, that the two had their first personal contact. During the time they began to spend together, Watchman Nee's stress on the divine life rather than on knowledge caused Witness Lee's fellowship with the Lord to deepen and to grow more intimate. In the same year, believers began meeting in Witness Lee's home; by the following year, this meeting was thriving. Due to the needs of the church, both men believed that the Lord desired Witness Lee to serve Him full-time. Their time together increased, during which Watchman Nee continually perfected and tested Witness Lee, preparing him to bear more responsibility. Realizing that the Lord's work in China must be one and that He had begun it in Shanghai through Watchman Nee, Witness Lee moved to Shanghai in 1934 to be able to work more closely with Watchman Nee. They labored, suffered, spread the work, received revelation, and brought in revivals together. Brother Lee edited Watchman Nee's publication The Christian from 1934 to 1940 and was his best man at his wedding.
In fear of annihilation by the incursion of Communism, Watchman Nee sent Witness Lee and a few others to Taiwan in 1949 to continue the work there. The last contact between Watchman Nee and Witness Lee was in March, 1950 in Hong Kong, twenty-five years after Witness Lee first knew of Watchman Nee. At that time, the two of them had extensive fellowship about Watchman Nee's return to the mainland. He told Witness Lee,"What shall we do with so many churches on the mainland? I must return to take care of them and stand with them for the Lord's testimony."

Martyrdom

Watchman Nee was led by the Lord to remain in Mainland China in spite of the threat of Communism, and to sacrifice everything for the Lord's work there. In this respect he was like the apostle Paul in Acts 20:24: "But I consider my life of no account as if precious to myself, in order that I may finish my course and the ministry which I have received from the Lord Jesus..." Concerning his decision, Brother Hsu Jin-chin testified the following:
Before Brother Nee left Hong Kong, Brother Lee advised him many times not to return to the mainland. But Brother Nee said, "If a mother discovered that her house was on fire, and she herself was outside the house doing the laundry, what would she do? Although she realized the danger, would she not rush into the house? Although I know that my return is fraught with dangers, I know that many brothers and sisters are still inside. How can I not return?" Brother Lee escorted him three times back from the bus stop to his home in Diamond Hill...
Watchman Nee was arrested by the Communists in March, 1952 for his professed faith in Christ as well as his leadership among the local churches. He was judged, falsely condemned, and sentenced in 1956 to fifteen years' imprisonment. During this entire time, only his wife was allowed to visit him. Although there is no way for us to know what he experienced of the Lord during his long imprisonment, his last eight letters provide a glimpse into his suffering, feeling, and expectation during his confinement. While prison censorship did not allow him to mention the Lord's name in his letters, in his final letter, written on the day of his death, he alluded to his joy in the Lord: "In my sickness, I still remain joyful at heart." Watchman Nee was practicing the word of the apostle Paul in Philippians 4:4: "Rejoice in the Lord always." He died in confinement in his cell on May 30, 1972. Humanly speaking, he died in misery and humiliation. Not one relative or brother or sister in the Lord was with him. There was no proper notification of his death and no funeral. He was cremated on June 1, 1972. His wife had died six months earlier, so it was her eldest sister who was informed of his death and cremation. She retrieved his ashes, and they were buried with Mrs. Nee's in his hometown of Kwanchao in the county of Haining, Chekiang province. In May, 1989, the ashes of Watchman Nee and his wife were transferred to and buried in "The Christian Cemetery" in Shiangshan in the city of Soochow of Kiangsu province.
The following is an account by Brother Nee's grandniece, who accompanied Mrs. Nee's eldest sister to the labor farm to pick up his ashes:
In June 1972, we got a notice from the labor farm that my granduncle had passed away. My eldest grandaunt and I rushed to the labor farm. But when we got there, we learned that he had already been cremated. We could only see his ashes....Before his departure, he left a piece of paper under his pillow which had several lines of big words written in a shaking hand. He wanted to testify to the truth which he had even until his death, with his lifelong experience. That truth is—"Christ is the Son of God who died for the redemption of sinners and resurrected after three days. This is the greatest truth in the universe. I die because of my belief in Christ. Watchman Nee." When the officer of the labor farm showed us this paper, I prayed that the Lord would let me quickly remember it by heart...
My granduncle had passed away. He was faithful until death. With a crown stained with blood, he went to be with the Lord. Although God did not fulfill his last wish, to come out alive to join his wife, the Lord prepared something even better—they were reunited before the Lord.
During Watchman Nee's imprisonment he was confined, but his ministry was not bound (2 Tim. 2:9). Under the Lord's sovereignty, his ministry has spread throughout the entire world as a rich supply of life to all seeking Christians.
His ultimate burden was the churches as the house of God, God’s tabernacle. Although his own earthly tabernacle (physical body) has been taken down, the churches, which were so much on his heart, are not only surviving but also continuing to grow vigorously and to spread throughout the earth. By the time Watchman Nee was arrested in 1952, approximately four hundred local churches had been raised up in China through his life and ministry. In addition, over thirty local churches had been raised up in the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. Today the Lord has multiplied the local churches to over 2,300 worldwide through the rich and faithful ministries of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee.

Pentecost

Pentecost
by - Leonard Ravenhill

Lord Montgomery, that unpredictable British field Marshall, said recently that England went into the Second World War equipped to fight the First World War. This was a polite way of saying that in World War II England was way behind the times in battle equipment and strategy.
When Sir Christopher Wren designed the great St. Paul's cathedral in London, he planned a thing of lasting beauty and unfading charm, but did not order it air-conditioned. When George Stephenson built his rocket engine, it was not smooth, herculean diesel, but a low-powered hissing machine. In other words, both Wren and Stephenson underestimated the needs of our day, and designed for their day.
Many today have a benevolent patronage of the church of Jesus Christ (or what they mistakenly think is the church of Jesus Christ). These "wise ones" think that the psalm-singing saints are as much out of line with the atomic age as a penny-farthing bicycle would be on a motor-crowded four-lane highway. Was Jesus Christ guilty, then, of underestimating the need of this twentieth century? Is the Church which Christ founded a cumbersome, slow-moving thing, badly needing a gigantic overhauling and a government subsidy to get her up to date and moving? No! The church does not need state support.
We concede, however, that the Church does need a mighty overhauling by divine Hands, that is, she needs the baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire. When the Lord Christ ascended into heaven from Mt. Olivet, He charged the disciples that they should "wait for the promise of the Father" - the "baptism of the Holy Ghost" with its resultant power.
This promise was exclusive - "Ye shall receive power." Who was to receive the promise? Only the followers of Christ.
The promise was exciting - "Ye shall receive power." In eager anticipation of this blessed enduement, the waiting ones could see all their weakness evaporating in the baptism of fire.
The promise was explicit - "Not many days hence."
The promise was expanding - This thing was not to be done in a corner, nor whispered among the redeemed. It would reach out through them to Judea, Samaria, and the uttermost parts of the earth.
This promise was exalting - In the whole world of created things there is no greater power than that of the Holy Spirit of God. They were to be filled with the Spirit of the living God. Earth has no greater honor than that.
Angels, behold and wonder!
Every thing in the heavens above, or in the earth beneath, or in the waters above the earth - all these are the work of His fingers and this Mighty one is He who condescends to come and indwell mortals.
But though Pentecost meant power to the disciples - it also meant prison to them. Pentecost meant enduement - it almost meant banishment. Pentecost meant favor with God - it also brought hatred from men. Pentecost brought great miracles - it also brought mighty obstacles. Pentecost brought anointing for the upper room preachers - it also brought appointing a deacon and under the enduement he turned Samaria upside down.
In Europe Pentecost Sunday is always called Whitsunday (White Sunday), and the children usually dress in white. The disciples were "made white" at the first Pentecost - that is, their hearts were "purified by faith" (Acts 15:8, 9). This purification is a lost accent these days in interpreting the Baptism with Spirit. Under the title of Spirit-filled churches, there are some weird and wanton things operating at present.
If too much stress has not been made of the gifts of the Spirit, then too little has been said of the fruit of the Spirit. Note how few books are available on the fruits of the Spirit, but how many on the gifts of the Spirit. Yet the Son of God said, "By their fruits ye shall know them."
The first essential for the coming of the Holy Ghost into a heart today is that the heart should be cleansed from sin, for the Holy Spirit does not fill an unclean heart. What God has cleansed, He then fills. Finally, whom God fills, He uses. A holy life is the authentic sign of being filled with the Spirit.
Today we need a revival of holy living. Why do we have to hang a sign outside our church to announce that we are Fundamental and Biblical? Because without a sign, no one could identify us? When I passed through a town that a few days before had been torn apart by a tornado, I assure you I had not to be told a mighty wind had cleaved the place. A fire is self-announcing. A conflagration needs no publicity. When the fire of the Holy Ghost falls again and the mighty wind of the Spirit comes (I am positive He is coming), then our "bush" will burn too, and a Moses will turn again to see the great sight. Even so, come Holy Ghost! Come quickly!

"Why Christians Shouldn't Watch 99% of TV!"

First off I want to ask a few questions. How much TV do you watch? How willing are you to sit down and watch a sitcom or movie or a sports event? What kind of shows are you watching? Are you spending anywhere close to as much time as you spend in front of a TV as you spend with Jesus? Did Christ our precious saviour have to die for sins committed in the movie or show you are watching? Do you know that anything that is more important to Jesus Christ is an idol? I don't care what it is. Do you spend more time entertaining the pleasures of the flesh than you do with Christ? If so to the latter question you are a SELF IDOLATER, and worship self! Do you know that God is angry with the wicked every day! Do you know that He will spew you out of His mouth if you are a luke warm Christian? Do you know that God hates...yes that's right hates...him that loves violence? Do you like to watch violent movies? Please think about these questions. Do you entertain evil thoughts of the movies after you watch them? Psalm 1 reads the following:

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Are the movies you watch Christ centered? Do they cause you to meditate on His law day and night? Are we not figuratively walking in the counsel of the ungodly, or standing in the way of sinners, or sitting in the seat of the scornful when we watch TV? Think about it; think about these questions. We have all probably heard the phrases sayings and quotes about TV and what they believe. Most truly believe that watching it doesn't effect how we think or live. This is false. I have heard people and I must confess I was one of them that said that I can watch a movie that has extreme profanity in it and it doesn't affect me; it doesn't make me swear. I can see murders and violence and it doesn't affect me I'm not going to kill anyone or want to. How could I have been so stupid? How can God's people really believe this LIE? I am so thankful that God has opened my eyes to a very important truth. We read in Romans 1:28-32
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Please take special attention to the last verse. Most will probably read this passage and say, "Well non of those things describe me.", but LOOK at verse 32 again! I am going to paraphrase this verse for clarity. Those who are aware of God's judgment and know that they that do the things listed are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. So how could you in a clear concience say that its ok to watch sitcoms, movies, or late night shows need to look at the verse here very closely. If we as Christians know the truth and know that the people acting in the TV shows etc. are not following God in real life or in the show are going to be spending a Christless eternity and we have a good time watching them and laugh and chuckle at the filth or violence we will be judged. The Word says those who know to do right and doeth it not, to him it is sin. If we know that an actor is acting gay or swearing, or killing someone and we think it is cool, funny, or any such thing it is a SIN!!! CHRIST HAD TO DIE FOR THOSE SINS AND WE HAVE THE AUDACITY TO THINK THEY ARE FUNNY, OR JUST ACTING, OR ITS OK FOR THEM BUT NOT ME...STOP FOOLING YOURSELVES. GET RID OF IT OR STOP WATCHING THOSE SITCOMS, OR MOVIES, OR REALITY SHOWS. TAKE A STAND FOR GOD! TAKE A STAND FOR TRUTH! DO AS THE SCRIPTURES SAY AND MORTIFY YOUR FLESH! AFTER ALL THE TRUE CHRISTIAN WALK IS HARD. Christ himself said to take up your cross (which is symbolic for SUFFERING) and follow Me! My God, people, don't think it will be bondage or legalistic when it will truly be FREEDOM! Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden is light (that is if we are walking in the spirit). We will have joy unspeakable, a peace that passeth all understanding. Walk in the Spirit and we will enjoy a fulfilled life IN Christ! Its not about what we can get out of God, but what He can get out of us. Live in Christ and you will be fulfilled! Jesus is the answer. Pray that He comes and moves in and take the throne of your heart and you will have more satisfaction than you could ever get from a stupid TV!

The NKJV "A Deadly Translation"

The NKJV: A Deadly Translation
By James L. Melton

We will now give some special attention to one of the deadliest translations on the market--the New King James Version, first published in 1979. It is a deadly version because it's editors have succeeded in deceiving the body of Christ on two main points: (1) That it's a King James Bible (which is a lie), and (2) that it's based on the Textus Receptus (which is only a partial truth).

The following information should be helpful when dealing with Christians who have been swindled by the Laodicean lovers of filthy lucre:

1. The text of the NKJV is copyrighted by Thomas Nelson Publishers, while there is no copyright today on the text of the KJV. If your KJV has maps or notes, then it may have a copyright, but the text itself does not.

2. There's nothing "new" about the NKJV logo. It is a "666" symbol of the pagan trinity which was used in the ancient Egyptian mysteries. It was also used by satanist Aleister Crowley around the turn of this century. The symbol can be seen on the New King James Bible, on certain rock albums (like Led Zepplin's), or you can see it on the cover of such New Age books as The Aquarian Conspiracy. (See Riplinger's tract on the NKJV.)

3. It is estimated that the NKJV makes over 100,000 translation changes, which comes to over eighty changes per page and about three changes per verse! A great number of these changes bring the NKJV in line with the readings of such Alexandrian perversions as the NIV and the RSV. Where changes are not made in the text, subtle footnotes often give credence to the Westcott and Hort Greek Text.

4. While passing off as being true to the Textus Receptus, the NKJV IGNORES the Receptus over 1,200 times.

5. In the NKJV, there are 22 omissions of "hell", 23 omissions of "blood", 44 omissions of "repent", 50 omissions of "heaven", 51 omissions of "God", and 66 omissions of "Lord". The terms "devils", "damnation", "JEHOVAH", and "new testament" are completely omitted.

6. The NKJV demotes the Lord Jesus Christ. In John 1:3, the KJV says that all things were made "by" Jesus Christ, but in the NKJV, all things were just made "through" Him. The word "Servant" replaces "Son" in Acts 3:13 and 3:26. "Servant" replaces "child" in Acts 4:27 and 4:30. The word "Jesus" is omitted from Mark 2:15, Hebrews 4:8, and Acts 7:45.

7. The NKJV confuses people about salvation. In Hebrews 10:14 it replaces "are sanctified" with "are being sanctified", and it replaces "are saved" with "are being saved" in I Corinthians 1:18 and II Corinthians 2:15. The words "may believe" have been replaced with "may continue to believe" in I John 5:13. The old straight and "narrow" way of Matthew 7:14 has become the "difficult" way in the NKJV.

8. In II Corinthians 10:5 the KJV reads "casting down imaginations", but the NKJV reads "casting down arguments". The word "thought", which occurs later in the verse, matches "imaginations", not "arguments". This change weakens the verse.

9. The KJV tells us to reject a "heretick" after the second admonition in Titus 3:10. The NKJV tells us to reject a "divisive man". How nice! Now the Alexandrians and Ecumenicals have justification for rejecting anyone they wish to label as "divisive men".

10. According to the NKJV, no one would stoop so low as to "corrupt" God's word. No, they just "peddle" it (II Cor. 2:17). The reading matches the Alexandrian versions.

11. Since the NKJV has "changed the truth of God into a lie", it has also changed Romans 1:25 to read "exchanged the truth of God for the lie". This reading matches the readings of the new perversions, so how say ye it's a King James Bible?

12. The NKJV gives us no command to "study" God's word in II Timothy 2:15.

13. The word "science" is replaced with "knowledge" in I Timothy 6:20, although "science" has occurred in every edition of the KJV since 1611! How say ye it's a King James Bible?

14. The Jews "require" a sign, according to I Corinthians 1:22 (and according to Jesus Christ - John 4:48), but the NKJV says they only "request" a sign. They didn't "request" one when signs first appeared in Exodus 4, and there are numerous places throughout the Bible where God gives Israel signs when they haven't requested anything (Exo. 4, Exo. 31:13, Num. 26:10, I Sam. 2:34, Isa. 7:10-14, Luke 2:12, etc). They "require" a sign, because signs are a part of their national heritage.

15. The King James reading in II Corinthians 5:17 says that if any man is in Christ he is a new "creature", which matches the words of Christ in Mark 16:15. The cross reference is destroyed in the NKJV, which uses the word "creation."

16. As a final note, we'd like to point out how the NKJV is very inconsistent in it's attempt to update the language of the KJV. The preface to the NKJV states that previous "revisions" of the KJV have "sought to keep abreast of changes in English speech", and also that they too are taking a "further step toward this objective". However, when taking a closer look at the language of the NKJV, we find that oftentimes they are stepping BACKWARDS! Please note a few examples of how well the NKJV has "kept abreast of the changes in the English language":

The Laodicean Church and Today

Is This Me- a laodicean?
Revelation 3:17 Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’? and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked?Considering the most recent events with the economy I’m almost certain all of us have made the statements: “We’re living in the last days or the current day church is just like the Laodicea church”-luke warm and full of themselves!. If you haven’t made these statements then we could all agree that they are current buzz statements in the Christian community. After reading and studying Revelation 3:17 along with additional bible study, I concretely agree with both statements. These are the last days and the current day church is full of Laodicean’s-luke warm and full of self. Please take some time to read the article below and then see if you agree. The below article offers a good description of Laodicean conditions, challenges of Laodiceanism, and a solution for the challenges. Read and Glean:From the beginning to the end of its history, Israel's great sin was trying to get the best of both worlds. They professed that God was their god, but they proved their insincerity by not honoring Him with their attention, their time, their energy. He was low on their list of priorities. God was always on the back burner, so to speak. This is idolatry. In regard to Laodiceanism, we have to be concerned about the same sin. Laodiceanism is the most subtle form of idolatry. A Laodicean is a Christian who has turned inward. Though he is a part of the church of God, his worship is self-centered. He worships himself and his interests in God's name, while going through the motions of worshipping God. Such is idolatry. What sin is the most distasteful to God? Undoubtedly, it is idolatry! And seeing that sin so skillfully embedded in the Laodicean, He spews them out of His mouth!Laodiceanism is also the most refined form of worldliness. That worries God. Beginning with an attraction to the world, and building through self-concern that overpowers spiritual concerns, the Laodicean unwittingly worships himself in the place of God. The Laodicean has misjudged what is important in life, and therefore he prioritizes wrongly. He gives his attention to pursuits that are not intrinsically evil, things God desires to bless His people with, but because his priorities are wrong, he merits God's scathing condemnation.Probably all of us have slumped into Laodiceanism somewhat. Because it is so prevalent in the world, it is almost impossible to avoid. But it can be resisted! We still have time for repentance. Each of us can make a greater effort to study, pray, fast, grow in love for each other, unselfishly help our neighbors, and follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit while we have the time and opportunity. We must not allow this opportunity to slip away

"The Spirit"

People, if we as Christians are "walking" in the Spirit we will have the fruit of it. Please don't go to the cross for joy; don't go for happieness; don't go for peace; Go that He might receive the reward of His suffering. Christ says to take up our cross and follow Him. The cross is symbolic of suffering. I'm not saying you will not have joy, happiness, peace, these are by-products of our faith not the reason for it. My God, when will we as his people stop baising our faith on pragnatism (if it works its good, if it is growing it is of God, looking at how well or happy we are) and get back to Christ. God doesn't care about our happiness He cares about our Holiness. We need to get back to the root of it all...Jesus! HUMANISM says, the end of all being is the happiness of man. CRISTIANITY says, the end of all being is the Glory of God!!! We are only alive for His Glory. Consider Pharoh how God raised him up just so people could see His Glory. Even the unsaved are created for His Glory. I thank Him all the time He chose me before the foundation of the earth. Not because I did any good or bad...just because He chose me. AMEN!

"No Wonder....hmmm"

No wonder we as christians today can't "hear" audibly clearly the voice of God today. I hope anyone who reads these posts will take the time to read the one on Rock Music. (in the near future I will be posting it on audio, I will let you know) We as Christ's church have been so perverted, and ripped away from the New Testament church it is sick. I am so disgusted with how far into the world we have gone. It is just in the last few months that the Lord has been calling me to even a more separated life. The Bible says we are to be a separated people a royal priesthood a chosen generation. If this is the case then why are we trying so hard to "fit" into the world. It started in ancient Rome in 313 AD the perversion of the truth. The modern day church is so far removed the true New Testament church it is SICK! They (the modern day church) try so hard to feel like, taste like, look like, sound like, run their business like, the WORLD. You can not WIN the WORLD if you feel, taste, look, sound, or run things like the world. All the modern day church is doing now is trying to get "lost" people into their church (or should I say business). The biggest perversion is the people really don't have to change much of their unsaved lifestyle...how perfect it seems to work, but the sad truth is all they are doing is making an express lane to Hell! My God, open the eyes of the modern day church and let them see there error. SEPERATE yourselves from the error people and let God move in your life. Start praying that God will cleanse your temple and give you clean hands. Start changing your prayers. Pray for you to be used for Gods glory and not for your carnal needs. We need to get back to Christianity. Leonard Ravenhill said he was embarrassed to part the the church of Jesus Christ today which is so radically different, so impoverished, so blind, from the New Testament church. My God, how true this statement is. Get back to the root of it all...

"Some Keys To A Deeper Life"

This book my dad gave me called Gems from Tozer is profound. I am so touched by this chapter 'Some Keys To The Deeper Life' I want to share it with you...whoever reads this blog. I apologize for any typos or misspellings. I am a little out of my typing grove. So please ahead of time forgive me. Now that we got that off my chest...whew...here are some keys to a deeper life!

To speak of the "deeper life" is not to speak of anything deeper than simple New Testament religion. The "deeper life" is deeper only because the average Christian life is tragically shallow.
Some people object to taking vows, but in the Bible you will find many great men of God directed by covenants, promises, vows and pledges. A carnal man refuses the discipline of such commitments. He says, "I want to be free. It is legalism." There are many religious tramps in the world who will not be bound by anything.
Now there are five vows I have in mind which we do well to make and keep.
1.) Deal thoroughly with sin. 2.) Never own anything-get rid of the sense of possessing. 3.) Never defend yourself. 4.) Never pass anything on about anybody else that will hurt him. 5.) Never accept any glory.
Remember that these five vows are not something you write in the back of your Bible and forget. They have got to be written in your own blood.
The Word of God well understood and religiously obeyed is the shortest route to spiritual perfection. And we must not select a few favorite passages to the exclusion of others. Nothing less than a whole Bible can make a whole Christian.
Make your thoughts a clean sanctuary. To God, our thoughts are things. OUr thoughts are the decorations inside the sanctuary where we live. If our thoughts are purified by the blood of Christ, we are living in a clean room no matter if we are wearing overalls covered with grease. Your thoughts pretty much decide the mood and weather and climate inside your heart, and God considers your thoughts as part of you. Thoughts of peace, thoughts of pity, thoughts of mercy, thoughts of kindness, thoughts of charity, thoughts of God, thoughts of the Son of God - these are pure things, good things, and high things. Therefore, if you would cultivate the Spirit's acquaintance, you must get hold of your thoughts and not allow your mind to be a wilderness in which every kind of unclean beast roams and bird flies. You must have a clean heart.
There are two kinds of lives: the fallow and the ploughed. Miracles follow the plough.
Paul was a better man for his thorn.
Why do some persons "find" God in a way that others do not? He has no favorites within His household. The difference lies not with God but with us.
I venture to suggest that the one vital quality which the great saints had in common was spiritual receptivity. They differed from the average person in that when they felt the inward longing they did something about it. They acquired the lifelong habit of spiritual response.
Receptivity can be present in degrees, depending upon the individual. It may be increased by exercise or destroyed by neglect. It is not a sovereign and irresistible force which comes upon us as a seizure from above. It is a gift of God, indeed, but one which must be recognized and cultivated.
Failure to see this is the cause of a very serious breakdown in modern evangelicalism. We now demand glamor and fast flowing dramatic action. We have been trying to apply machine-age methods to our relations with God. We read our chapter, have our short devotions and rush away, hoping to make up for our deep inward bankruptcy by attending another gospel meeting...
The tragic results of this spirit are all about us. It will require a determined heart and more than a little courage to wrench ourselves loose from the grip of our times and return to Biblical ways.
"Christ in you, the hope of glory." I'm not afraid of the devil. The devil can handle me - he's got judo I never heard of. But he can't handle the One to whom I'm joined; he can't handle the One to whom I'm united; he can't handle the One whose nature dwells in my nature.
The man who comes to Christ in the loneliness of personal repentance and faith is also born into a family. The church is called the household of God, and it is the ideal place to rear young Christians. Just as a child will not grow up to be a normal adult if forced to live alone, so the Christian who withdraws from the fellowship of other Christians will suffer great soul injury as a result. Such a one can never hope to develop normally.
the Lord cannot fully bless a man until He has first conquered him.
We Christians must simplify our lives or lose untold treasures on earth and in eternity. Modern civilization is so complex as to make the devotional life all but impossible.
Science, which has provided men with certain material comforts, has robbed them of their souls by surrounding them with a world hostile to their existence. One way the civilized world destroys men is by preventing them from thinking their own thoughts. Our "vastly improved methods of communication" of which the shortsighted boast so loudly now enable a few men in strategic centers to feed into millions of minds alien thought stuff, ready-made and pre-digested. A little effortless assimilation of these borrowed ideas and the average man has done all the thinking he will or can do. This subtle brain-washing goes on day after day.
The need for solitude and quietness was never greater than it is today.
To have faith we must immerse ourselves in the Scriptures. And faith must be exercised if it is to be effective. Faith, like a muscle, grows by stretching.
Strive to get beyond mere pensive longing. Set your face like a flint and begin to put your life in order. Every man is as holy as he really wants to be. But the want must be all-compelling.
Tie up the loose ends of your life. Begin to tithe...institute family prayer...pay up your debts...make restitution...set aside time to pray and search the Scriptures...surrender wholly to the will of God.
Put away every un-Christian habit from you. If other Christians practice it without compunction, God may be calling you to come nearer to Him than these care to come. Remember the words, "Others may, you cannot." Do not condemn or criticize, but seed a better way.
Get Christ Himself in the focus of your heart and keep Him there continually. Only in Christ will you find complete fulfillment. Throw your heart open to the Holy Spirit and invite Him to fill you. He will do it. Let no one interpret the Scriptures for you in such a way as to rule out the Father's gift of the Spirit. Every man is as full of the Spirit as he wants to be. Make your heart a vacuum and the Spirit will rush in to fill it.
Be hard on yourself and easy on others. Carry your own cross but never lay one on the back of another.
Begin to practice the presence of God.
Well, my friends I hope this short chapter in Tozer's book can touch somewhere deep in your beings and bring you to change. That is one of the greatest problems with Christians today...they are afraid of change. We are here for God, not Him here for us. We need not forget this. We are His work. We are here so that He might receive Glory. My friends please do not use the Lord as a means to your end.
MAY THE LAMB WHO WAS SLAIN RECEIVE THE REWARD OF HIS SUFFERING!!!

"The Truth About Christmas"

The Truth about CHRISTMAS
Flee from Idolatry
by R. F. Becker

PART ONE

What Is Christmas?

These three verses from God's Word should be intensely startling to anyone who is in the habit of celebrating Christmas. They ought to search out the very depths of the conscience and bring a conviction and condemnation to every Christian who has been active in any way, in the festivals of Yuletide.
From these words of the Spirit, we should have no trouble understanding that whatever is very popular in the world is not of God. They place the unerring finality of Omnipotence on the decree, "That which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God." They also present to our innermost being the chilling fact that people are not always at heart what they appear to he. And again, here we find a lesson as positive as it is appalling, that the saints of Christ are often, even if unwittingly, led through man's traditions into idolatry, which thing God hates.
We all know holiday seasons are very popular. Any time of festival seems to have great sentimental appeal to the hearts of most people. Add to this emotional expectation, the complex of a conscience which compels a vague respect of the day when Christ supposedly was born and we have--the Christmas spirit. No date on the calendar is welcomed more. Old and young--rich and poor--pious and vulgar, saint and sinner, with boundless frenzy, race with the coming of Christmas day like the waters of a flooded river, submerging everything before it. Christmas is the day when the driving power of this festival love reaches its zenith. No other day can equal it for fleshly revelry, and debauchery combined with a heathen misrepresentation of Christ which, as a fanatical religious orgy from every quarter swirls to a literal vortex of confusion and jamboree on December 25th.
No--Christmas is NOT of God. It is abomination to Him. It is NOT honoring to Jesus Christ. It only calls forth from multitudes of unthinking people a natural sentimentality and a false worship of Him. The observances of Christmas are in no way inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Christmas spirit is only terrible mockery to Him.
Christmas time is not a season of revival and upbuilding in the Church of God. Instead it is a pagan spell of evil, which spreads spiritual pollution as it rages among churches and believers for the time appointed. Thousands of evangelical believers who would be horrified and deeply depressed to find a professor smoking or drinking or dancing, calmly and deliberately indulge in the idolatries of the heathen at Christmas time. And those who know and love the Truth are counted to be narrow minded and sacrilegious if a protest is raised. So, such honest souls are forced to stand aside and witness annually this glittering cloud of pagan observances descend with a smothering and paralyzing pall on all people. And as we watch parents, who loudly proclaim the necessity of truthfulness in children, who advocate the need of so many social reformations and who bemoan the juvenile delinquency which prevails, deliberately teach their unsuspecting little ones the monstrous Santa Claus lie, we can only cry with the Apostle John "I wondered with great wonder" (Rev. 17:6 R.V.).
"A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land. The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?" (Jer. 5:30, 31).

PART TWO

The Origin of Christmas

The celebration of Christmas is a mixture of pagan Babylon's "mystery" idolatry in its purest form, imported through Pergamos (Rev. 2:13) into Rome, and there incorporated into her pagan religious ritual, and from thence introduced into the world by the Roman Catholic Church as a commemoration of Christ's birth. A wealth of proof can easily be produced today to put this fact beyond question.
It is freely admitted by all learned and honest writers of old, that the date of Christ's birth cannot be known. How then did it come to pass that the Roman Catholic Church fixed December 25th as the day He was born?
First, we must remember that Satan's chief object has always been to claim the honor and worship due to the most High God. For it is written in Isaiah:
"How art thou cut down to the ground. who dist lay low the nations. For thou hast said in thine heart. I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the uttermost parts of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High" (Isa. 14:12, 13, 14).
In keeping with these words of Isaiah long centuries before the time of Christ, Satan in his bid for the worship due to God, instituted a great pagan feast which was celebrated at that exact time of the year in the Chaldean city of Babylon. This heathen celebration was in honor of the birth of Tammuz or Bel or Bacchus who was the son of Semeramis, or Cybele or Rhea, the Chaldeans queen of heaven.
Now in Babylon where the sun was worshiped, it was not worshiped as merely a light giving divinity, but as the Incarnate God. And one essential in this Chaldean worship was, that Baal was that same God. So when Tammuz was worshiped as God incarnate the implication was that he was an incarnation of the sun, or Baal.
When Belshazzar was slain (Dan. 5:30) and the Chaldeans defeated by Darius the Mede, those with authority and power to continue Babylon's idolatrous "mystery" worship, fled to the city of Pergamos, where afterward a Christian Church was founded (Rev. 2:13). There for many centuries Satan himself brought about the worship of Aesculapius, the child of the "incarnate sun." This worship was celebrated in frantic excesses of evil as Babylon's "mystery" idolatries were perpetuated in their exile. Then in the course of time, at the death of Attalus III when Phyrgia was given to the Roman Empire in 133 B.C., the worship of pagan Babylon was removed from Pergamos and its wicked course renewed in the city of Rome on the Tiber.
Now nearly every recorded form of pagan worship which has descended from the Babylonian "mysteries" focuses the attention of its deluded worshipers on a mother god and the birth of her child. In Egypt the mother and child were Isis and Osiris. In India they were Isi and Iswara. In Asia the mother was Cybele and the son Deoius. In Greece we find Ceres and her son Plutus, Even in Tibet and China the mother was Shing Moo, and her son was devoutly worshipped with her. Lastly, we have many records of the mother Fortuna and her son Jupiter in pagan Rome. In the worship of all these false gods there has been more or less departure from the original Babylonish form. Only in the Roman Catholic Church can we find today the pure idolatry of the ancient Chaldean "mysteries." From that source has emanated the greatest "mystery" idolatry of all ages. For Rome has given to the world this mother and child worship of wicked Babylon of old, concealed beneath the Satanic disguise of a commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
How did this come to pass? In the third century when the Apostolic Church was in its infancy, grievous wolves entered among the flock of God speaking perverse and evil doctrines. Slowly and cautiously at first (Acts 20:29), they began to bring Rome's pagan worship among the believers Constantine's false conversion and his edict making Christianity the state religion of the Roman Empire, rapidly developed the imported paganism in the worship of the fast decaying Church of Rome.
Now Rome's way of converting the other pagans to her style of worship has always been to absorb them gradually, along with their idolatrous observances. So about the 4th century the Roman Church brought the worship of Semeramis the Babylonish queen of heaven and her son Tammuz into her ritual, disguised as the worship of Mary and her son Jesus. Then followed the December 25th commemoration of the birth of Christ, and the evil institution of the "mass" for Christ, and behold!--the iniquity of Christmas was launched forth! Thus the pagans in the now apostate Church could worship the queen of heaven and observe the birth of her son Tammuz while the untaught unsuspecting believers thought they were honoring Christ in the same ritual, Behold the trail of Satan's Christmas festive ritual of counterfeit! From Babylon on the Euphrates, to Pergamos once the capital of Asia, to Rome upon the Tiber and thence into the apostate Church there, finally to emerge through the Roman Catholic Church a flood of lying pagan wonders, covering the earth!
Faithful men of God who knew and loved the Scriptures of truth fought against the mingling of paganism with the name of Christ. They were valiant in opposing the entry of Christmas and its festivals among the believers. But in spite of their efforts, the lukewarm and rapidly decaying church, with the exception of a few faithful Christians, was overcome and finally forced to submit to the observance of the mother and child worship from Babylon. Sad and solemn has been the spiritual and moral wreckage wrought by this Romish evil down through the history of men. And in spite of the plain truths of the Word of God, revealing His holy hatred of idolatry, nearly all of the Protestant Churches and assemblies of Christian believers have followed Rome in her Satanic observance and unholy celebrations of Christ-mass.
Now since the Roman Catholic Church is truly the "Mystery, Babylon the Great" of Rev. 17, and the virgin in her sanctuaries is the real and actual Chaldean queen of heaven, and her blasphemous representation of the birth of Christ is, in fearful reality, a form of devil worship, how we should shrink from having any part in her heaven defying wickedness. For though some may consider the sin of idolatry a light thing, our God does not, no indeed, for the Almighty has attached the greatest of all threatening to the commandment forbidding false worship.
"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God. visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me" (Ex. 20:4, 5).
And shall we, who have been saved by the great grace of God through the atoning blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, and who enjoy the liberties of a government founded by our Puritan fathers who themselves fled from Roman Catholic persecution shall we join hands with that same false and bloody Rome which is daily adding to the fearful list of over 50 million martyrs of Jesus? Shall we embrace and love and celebrate with Babylon the Great, her festivals of iniquity, and shall we do so any longer with our eyes wide open. knowing that her Christ-mass is, after all, just Satan's pagan mockery of the birth of our only Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ? And if, alas, too late, we awake suddenly to find the relentless judgments of God bearing mightily down upon our nation and people, can we not discern His own hand in fulfilling His Word for our national sin of following Rome into her glittering sanctuary of Christmas and Easter evils?

PART THREE

Origin of Christmas Customs

The following quotations are from standards of authority on the origin of Christmas customs and observances.
1. In Alexander Hislops famous book "The Two Babylons" the following quotation concerning the birth of Christ is on page 91 . . .
"There is not a word in the Scriptures about the precise day of His birth, or the time of the year He was born."
2. In Webster's Student Dictionary for Upper School Levels, page 145 (a Catholic dictionary used in our schools today) we read . . .
"Christmas. -- Christ + mass. A church festival, December 25. Christmas day commemorating the birth of Christ."
3. In the Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia, 1903, Vol. 2, page 987 -- we read . . .
"Christmas, -- Christmas properly begins with the evening of December 24 . . . and continues until Epiphany, January 6, the whole period called Christmastide. In the Roman, Greek, Episcopal and Lutheran Churches Christmas is observed as a religious festival with special services. Its celebration was formerly forbidden by the Puritans."
4. In the Encyclopedia Brittanica, 9th Edition, Vol. 5; page 611 -- we read . . .
"Christmas Day, -- There is however difficulty in accepting this (December 25th) as the date of the Nativity, December being the height of the rainy season when neither flocks nor shepherds could have been at night in the fields of Bethlehem. By the fifth century, however, whether from influence of some tradition or from the desire to supplant heathen festivals of the period of the year such as Saturnalia, the 25th of December had been generally agreed upon.
5. The Encyclopedia Americana, 1942 Edition, Vol. 6, page 623 reads thus . . .
"Christmas. -- It was according to many authorities not celebrated in the first centuries of the Christian church as the Christian usage in general was to celebrate the death of remarkable persons rather than their birth. A feast was established in memory of the birth of the Saviour in the fourth century. In the fifth century the western church (Roman Catholic) ordered it to be celebrated forever on the day of the old Roman feast of the birth of Sol."
6. In the new Americanized Encyclopedia Brittanica, 1900, Vol. IX, page 5236, we read . . .
"Saturn. -- An ancient Italian god . . . Saturnalias, this is the great 'Festival of Saturn,' celebrated on the 19th, but after Caesar's reform of the calendar, the 17th of December. Augustus decreed that the 17th and the 18th should be sacred to Saturn and the 19th and 20th to Opalia the festivals of Ops. Caligula added a fifth day, 'The Day of Youth,' December 25th lasting seven days. The time was one of general joy and mirth. The woolen fetters were taken from the feet of Saturn and each man offered a pig. During the festival schools were closed . . .
"Gambling and dice at other times illegal was now practiced. All classes exchanged gifts, the commonest being tapers and clay dolls. These dolls were especially given to children. Varro thought that these dolls represented original sacrifice of human beings to the Infernal God."
7. The new Americanized Encyclopedia Brittanica, Edition of 1899, Vol. XI, page 404, has this . . .
"Befferna. -- A corruption of the word 'epiphania' (Epiphany) is the name of an old female character in Italian folklore, who was so busily engaged in housecleaning, when three wise men of the east passed by on their way to offer their treasurers to the Infant Saviour, that she excused herself for not going out to see them thinking she would have the opportunity of doing so when they returned. Not knowing that they went home by another road she has been ever since watching for them. She, like the Dutch Santa Claus, is supposed to take great interest in children, where in Italy a stocking of each is hung up before the fire. Soon the cry "Ecco le Beffena" is raised when the children jump up and seize their stockings, each of which contains a present bearing value in proportion to the conduct of the child during the year. One whose behavior has been particularly bad finds his stocking filled with ashes in token of Beffena's displeasure.
The custom of carrying an effigy called the Beffena on the 'Twelfth Night' in a procession through the streets is probably a relic of one of the 'Mysteries of the middle ages.'"
8. The new International Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition, Vol. 3, page 27, tell us . . .
"Epiphany. -- A festival held on the 6th of January by the Roman Catholic, Eastern and Angelican Churches in commemoration of the manifestations of Christ. Three different events are included in this celebration. As early as the third century at least, it was observed as the commemoration of the baptism of Christ . . . Later in the east it was taken to commemorate the manifestation of divine power in Christ's first miracle at Cana in Galilee . . . . In the fourth century the birth of Christ was also connected with It by some writers. Many special observances have been connected with the day which under the name 'Twelfth Day, Twelfth Night,' was a time of special merry making in England and closed the Christmas festivities."
9. In the "History of the Christian Church" by Fisher on page 65, it is recorded . . .
"About the end of this period (3rd century) two new festivals came in. One was Epiphany originating in the East -- the other was Christmas, a festival of Roman origin taking the place of the heathen festival in honor of the sun or of the deity bearing that name, which was celebrated at the winter solstice or on the 25th of December the time erroneously assigned for the solstice in the Julian Calendar."
10. In McAbes History of the Popes, Vol. I, page 18, we find the following information given by Bishop Eusebius in his "Ecciesiasticial History" . . .
"There was at the time (fourth century) an acute controversy about the date on which Easter ought to be celebrated. We must remember that Easter was then the greatest, if not the only ecclesiastical festival; for December 25th was the supreme festival of the pagan and Mithraic calendars and was an abomination to Christians."

PART FOUR

Practical Considerations

1. The name Christmas. This very name is an abomination to our Holy God. The reason for this is that this word Christmas is an unholy and pagan combination of the two words "Christ" and "Mass." Christ died once for our sins (Heb. 9:26). By that ONE offering He has perfected forever every believer (Heb. 10:14).
But behold the terrible mystery of iniquity! For in the Roman Catholic mass, Satan himself has introduced unto the ends of the earth, the crowning blasphemy of Anti-Christ. It is the teaching that the "mass" is not a mere representation of the sacrifice of Christ, but that it is a continuation of the same offering, as the priest commands our Lord Jesus to come down from glory and become a piece of bread. And besides all this, the Roman priest teaches that this same "mass" adds to and improves upon the atonement of our Saviour which He made at Calvary. Thus in the blasphemy of the "mass" can we not hear Satan say "I will ascend above the heights of the clouds: I will be like the most High" (Isa. 14:14)?
Christ is the divine title of our wonderful Lord and Saviour. "MA" is just the shortening of the blasphemous "mass" of Rome. Christ is the head of the true and living Church which He bought with His own blood. The Roman Catholic Church under the headship of the Pope is verily the synagogue of Satan, the false church. She is spoken of in God's Word as "The Mother of Harlots and abomination of the earth" (Rev. 17:5). Nothing in the realm of the natural will stir one to anger so suddenly as to learn of someone having connected the name of his wife, sister or mother with the name of a well known woman of ill fame. Christian, how then can you, with serene composure, and interested cooperation, join hands with Rome as she brazenly and wickedly blends the "mass" of the harlot church with the name of Christ the risen Head of the True Church of God?
2. The Christmas Tree. The production and sale of evergreen trees in the U.S.A. has developed, thanks to Rome, into a vast enterprise. So while lumber is becoming scarcer and prices soar, millions of young trees are annually sacrificed to satisfy America's Christmas god, Tammuz. During the weeks of Christmas festivities one is met everywhere with these dead evergreen trees arrayed in their glitter and tinsel, reminding us of the lifeless pagan gods of old. But behold! as the fervor of festivity dies down, out goes the stripped and bedraggled remains of the Christmas god into the junk pile or garbage barrel or to be kicked around the street! Yet thousands of untaught people will gladly go hungry and willingly deprive their families of necessary things in order to buy and decorate this same Christmas tree.
The first decorating of an evergreen tree was done by pagans in honor of their god Adonis, who after being slain was brought to life by the serpent Aesculapius. The representation of this slain god was a dead stump of a tree. Around this stump coiled the snake Aesculapius symbol of life restoring. And lo -- from the roots of the dead tree comes forth another and different tree -- an evergreen tree symbolic to pagans of a god who cannot die! In Egypt this god was worshiped in a palm tree as Baal-Tamar. The fir tree was worshiped in Rome as the same new born god as Baal-Berith, who was restored to life by the same serpent, and a feast was held in honor of him on December 25th called the "Birthday of the unconquered Sun."
Now in Babylon's "Mystery" system of idol worship the sun was called "Baal," the one and only god. So when Tammuz the son of the queen of heaven was worshiped as God he was also reverenced by the name of Baal.
Thus we can see how, in the annual custom of erecting and decorating evergreen trees, the Roman Catholic Church has brought down through the ages to us, the paganism of Baal or the worship of the sun, mingled with the worship of Aesculapius the serpent. Whether erected in public or private, a tinseled and spangled evergreen tree is just a glaring symbol of the worship of this false god. So in keeping with the policy of Rome for centuries, while she keeps millions vainly supposing they do honor to Jesus Christ with a Christmas tree, they are actually even if unwittingly commemorating a pagan festival in honor of Baal, which thing our God hates (I Kings 18; Judges 8:33).
"For the customs of the peoples are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest. the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are up-right as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne. because they cannot go" (Jer. 10:3, 4, 5).
3. The date of the birth of Christ. There is not one Scripture in the Word of God which indicates that December 25th is the anniversary of the day on which Christ was born. Neither do we find in that Word anything to prove what time of the year He was born. There is not a verse in the Bible in which can be found the word "Christmas." No one knows the date of the birth of Jesus. Those archeologists and historians who can be depended upon and whose honesty never was doubted, and who are unbiased in their conclusions all agree that the birth of Jesus could not possibly have been in December. There is no reason to connect His birth with December 25th, except for the purpose of using His name to hide the commemoration of a pagan festival as the Church of Rome has so successfully done.
God in His wisdom has chosen to hide the time of His Beloved Son's incarnation. The Bible is the inspired Word of the same Holy God who inhabits Eternity. His dear Son is the central figure in that Word from Genesis to Revelation. He has revealed to us many wondrous things about His Son Jesus Christ. But one thing He has completely hidden from man. It is the precise date of His birth.
Nowhere in the Word of God are we told to remember the birth of Jesus Christ. Christians are commanded to remember His death, both by the Lord Himself in Luke 22:18, 19 and by the Apostle Paul in I Cor. 11:23 to 26. Surely the heart of man must be far from right with God when it can enjoy itself greatly in doing exactly the opposite of His command. Yet many who pass before the world as Christians gladly join the hilarious ungodly in celebrating the pagan festival of Christmas. Another thing I have noticed, those who make the most of Christmas day are those who care the least about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the day on which Christ told us to remember His death, the first day of the week -- the Lord's Day. People who very willingly desecrate the Lord's Day with all manner of pleasure seeking, all sorts of open business places, every kind of secular work, will forfeit all these with great zeal to attend some Christmas service or program in a Church or some other place. Then back they go to their ungodly polluting of the Lord's Day until the next Christmas, when with a conscience aroused by festival emotion they rush again to the altars of the Roman goddess from Babylon.
But who that has been taught by God's Spirit can go in for these pagan celebrations? Christian, can you take part in the idolatries of Babylon? How can you who have been bought with His own blood, offer false worship to a pagan god introduced among us by Satan's Anti-Christ? Can you like Judas, betray Christ by joining hands with them who hate Him and blaspheme His atonement, yet falsely pretend to honor His birth in a festival of sin? Can you, too, enjoy the Romish pageantry in your church and help crucify Jesus afresh by putting Him to an open shame in the idolatrous mockery of Christmas?
"If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him" (I John 2:15).
"Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins and that ye receive not of her plagues" (Rev. 18:4).
4. The giving of gifts. In Bible accounts where celebrating and gift giving were done at someone's birthday party, sin and evil prevailed and murder followed. In Genesis, on Pharaoh's birthday, the chief baker was hanged and beheaded. During Herod's birthday celebration John the Baptist was beheaded for preaching against sin. In Rev. 11 we read how wicked people celebrated the slaying of God's two faithful witnesses by making merry and sending gifts to one another. The Holy Spirit by the mouth of Paul once said, "Ye observe days. and months, and times. and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labor in vain" (Gal. 4:10,11).
I believe that gifts can be great blessings. But a gift is of no value whatever unless it is given in love. Today the common custom seems to be to give a gift at Christmas as a part of a bargain to receive one. Those who give only at a time of a celebration of idolatry certainly are only doing so to the abhorrence of the Almighty. How much more then are they mocking God and making themselves abominable to Him, who send gifts to one another at such a time in a pretense of honoring the birth of His Son? And what account shall those Christians give to our God in the day of judgment, who have annually spent hundreds and even thousands of dollars upon Christmas presents out of their abundance and yet have given little or nothing to support gospel work in our land or in the needy mission fields?
The godly wise men from the East gave their gifts to the child Jesus Himself -- not to one another or to their friends. They gave to Him from hearts moved by the Holy Spirit. Their gifts were a part of their worship of the new found Messiah. Neither were their gifts common trinkets but presents of great value showing their heart's true love for their Lord. They did not bring to the Christ child presents that they might receive from Him something in return. O how far removed from those first gifts to the child Jesus is the modern cheap knick-knack giving of the fickle throng of Christmas revelers who annually submit themselves to all the festive responsibilities of gift purchasing, which is only a burden grievous to be borne!
5. The world and Christmas. Here is one thing which, if it were the only thing, would prove to me that Christmas celebrating is not of God. It is this; the world which hates Christ and His blood atonement for sin, respond as one man at that time to revel and feast and celebrate. If in reality December 25th was a date set by God to remember the birth of Jesus, the world would not have anything to do with it There would be absolutely no response by the rank and file of mankind. Witness how the world does not regard the Lord's Day which is of God. But the world DOES regard and love Christmas, therefore it is not of God. "For the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God" (I Cor. 2:14). Then how can an obedient child of God, or a church or a gathering of Christians, follow Papal Rome and the drugged and reeling world in their abominable idolatry and sin of Christ-mass festivities?
Those who despise the Gospel of God's grace will go to any length to celebrate a false tradition about His Son's birth. Those who hate the doctrine of forgiveness through the blood of Jesus alone, are filled with great zeal to promote programs, to play Santa Claus, to adorn their dwellings with wreaths and trees and say "Merry Christmas" to everyone they meet. Proud sinners, self-righteous sinners, immoral sinners with a character black as midnight, morally virtuous sinners with hard impenitent hearts, refined and well educated sinners seeming to know everything but Christ as Saviour, religious sinners with a lofty heady profession -- all, all with one accord join hands in the gay hilarity of Christmas following the old Mother Harlot, ignorantly imagining they are doing honor to a Saviour they neither love nor know nor care to know.
During Christmastide men and women become foully drunk on "Christmas present" liquor and perpetuate every kind of social vice, and criminal debauchery. In wild "Christmas parties" young men and women willingly sell their bodies to evil and their souls to Hell around the be-ribboned and wreathed "Christmas gifts" of champagne, brandy, wine and beer. And thousands of others who would not get drunk commit the abominable sin of gluttony like some gorging carnivorous animal. And in these the name of Christ is used in vile cursing, vulgarity and blasphemy by men and women, boys and girls who lie deliberately about "St. Nick" and "Santa Claus" and love a "Merry Christmas." Dear Christian, can you help to betray Christ with these pagans, by going with them in their religious riots? Can you sell Christ to the ungodly world for a pagan Christmas like Judas did for his 30 pieces of silver?
6. Christmas Programs and Literature. Please read Matthew's Gospel, Chapter 2, then Luke, Chapter 2. By doing so with care any thoughtful reader can see at once that Christmas songs, books, cards and programs are not scriptural. For in most of these we find in one way or another, misrepresentations about the shepherds, the wise men, the star, the child, the stable, etc.
[The Christmas time manger scene always includes Mary, Joseph, a baby Jesus, three wise men and shepherds. This tradition clearly contradicts the Bible record.] Let us begin to solve this problem by stating that nowhere in God's Word are we informed how many wise men there were. [Secondly, the scriptures do not say that the wise men saw Jesus in the manger. They saw him in a HOUSE with Mary His mother (Matthew 2:11)--no mention of Joseph or the shepherds. Even if this house were the inn, this could not have occurred when Jesus was first born because Jesus was not born in the inn, there was no room (Luke 2:7).]
It was not the wise men but the shepherds who came to visit the babe Jesus in His manger cradle in Bethlehem. They followed no star either as they did not even see one. They were informed of the birth of their Messiah by the angel of the Lord (Luke 2:10). Our country teems with covetous men who have made the Christmas season a profitable one indeed for themselves. And through their misrepresentations of the Bible the land abounds at that same season with all sorts of literature, cards, books and programs of celebrations, which utterly confuse the facts written in God's Word about the birth of Jesus. Shepherds and wise men, angels and stars, stable and inn, manger and house are misrepresented. The visit of the shepherds and the visit of the wise men are confused, so that the whole story of the birth of Christ becomes a distorted combination of truth and error.
Long ago King David said to a carnal generation like ours, "Why do the heathen rage and the people imagine a vain thing?" (Psalm 2:1).
7. God's Judgment. One more point we dare not overlook concerning Christmas. The very source of Christmas equipment condemns the tradition. Until World War II nearly all Christmas goods were stamped "Made in Germany" or "Made in Japan." Thus these very goods, used by England and the United States to pollute the worship of God and make whole nations to sin, came from the very countries God used in bringing His judgment of war upon us. How did such poor nations finance so great a war? By selling us the fruit of their cheap labor among which Christmas goods played a major role. Ought we to regard this as a mere coincidence? Ought we not rather to see the threatening of God in it? NO COUNTRY IN ALL HISTORY HAS TURNED TO IDOLS AND THEN PROSPERED FOR LONG! The national fear and unrest, the ominous rumblings in the various world councils the low standard of morality, the universality of open sin, along with the wickedness of idolatry and unbelief, all point to one great event we may soon see come to pass, the fall of this nation. FOR IF THE SIN OF ROMAN CATHOLIC PAGAN IDOLATRY IS NOT NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED AND CONFESSED AND FORSAKEN WE CAN ONLY LOOK FOR NATIONAL DOOM. If it is increased and developed and our nation goes on with her open idolatry, her legalized gambling, her mountainous liquor corruption, her disregard for the Truths of the Bible, her desecration of the Lord's Day and the maintenance of pagan festivals, all of which are backed by the Roman Catholic Church, we may be sure of one thing. The Lord's anger will not be "turned away. but "His hand" will be "stretched out still" (Isa. 9:17).
"Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people" (Prov. 14: 34)
"Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil" (Ex. 23:2).
8. Perhaps some well-meaning but untaught Christian will say, "We only keep Christmas to give the children a good time."
Let me give you some questions to consider.
1. If you are a Christian how can you teach your little ones to delight in and love a Christmas tree which actually is a pagan symbol of sun and serpent worship?
2. How can you before the all-seeing eye of God tell your children the lie about Santa Claus and his reindeer? You should read Rev. 21:27. Do you think that the God who holds our destiny in His hand will preserve the freedoms of our future generations if we make them a nation of liars?
3. How can you have the brazen boldness to tell your children you are a Christian, and then connect pagan idolatry to the story of the birth of Christ?
4. How can you help a bewhiskered clown dressed like a dunce, who is hired by some commercial establishment to lie to children all day long, betray your own trusting child into a maze of falsehood to save your face before Christmas idolators?
5. How can you expect your children to have any confidence in whatever you teach them, when they find you have lied deliberately to them for years about Christmas and Santa Claus -- and during those years you punish THEM for telling untruths?
6. Does not your heart smite you as you think of them growing up in servitude to the pagan observances and celebrations of Rome, instead of the real truth of the gospel of Christ?
7. How can you have the shameless boldness before God, to teach your children paganism and the Word of God at the same time? Do you expect that God will spare a people, whose chief delight is to make a mock of the birth of His Son?
8. Does not your conscience accuse you as you combine the story of our adorable Saviour with the Roman heathen idol, the Christmas tree of Baal-Berith?
9. How can you expect your children to believe you, that they must worship Christ alone, if they see you indulge in an annual festival which had its beginning among the devil worshipers of ancient Chaldea?
10. How can you expect your child to believe your witnessing to him about Christ when he finds out you have been lying to him about Santa Claus and his reindeer, etc.?
11. Do you believe that a festive season that not only came to us through Rome from Babylon, but in itself is a system of perpetual lying to little children, is of God?
12. Can you teach your children to honor the Lord and the Lord's Day and then help them engage in honoring a heathen god, Baal-Berith, a Christmas tree and all the God-dishonoring observances connected with it?
13. How can you tell your children with a clear conscience that you are a child of God yourself when they annually watch you celebrate a Romish Christmas, and lie to them like a child of the devil?
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them" (Matt. 7:20).
"Train up a young child in the way he should go: when he is old, he will not depart from it" (Prov. 22:6).

PART FIVE

Conclusions for Your Meditation

It may be you have saved up money to buy Christmas gifts and cards and decorations and a tree. Be sure this is not pleasing to God, fellow Christian. Let me suggest to you what should be done if this is the sad case with you.
Do not spend what God has given you on temporal gifts. Do not contribute to the "good cause" of supporting a Romish Christmas entertainment in your church. Do not buy an expensive tree with its ornaments and decorations, like the Christ-hating world does. Dare to leave them all behind for Christ's sake.
Instead of all this, take what God has given you and send it as a gift to the Lord to some needy missionary in a dark and foreign land. Think awhile on those poor of the earth, those millions of souls who have never heard the glad tidings of Christ for the lack of support of real Christian missionaries. Can you use what the good Lord has given you to celebrate like the idolatrous heathen, instead of giving in order that those same poor heathen in awful darkness might hear the Gospel and be saved?
"Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me" (Matt. 25:40).
I have no desire to discourage one honest soul. But I have witnessed this Christmas festival of sin creeping as a deadly thing, coiling its slimy and glittering idolatries slowly and surely around the feeble Church of God as a part of Rome's program to strangle the true worship that remains. And I have found most of those who know Christ as Lord and Saviour totally unaware of the truth about Christmas. And few are the voices raised in protest of this paganism, for the honor of Jesus Christ our only Lord and Saviour.
Therefore I have revealed to you the truth as God has shown it to me by His Word and by history and existing facts. May He make it a word in season to you. It is my hope and prayer that every Christian who discovers he has erred so exceedingly as to partake of Rome's Christmas, will turn again to the God of all grace and in contrition, utterly and forever forsake all that pertains to this Christ-dishonoring sin of Babylon. It is my desire to see, not only the souls of men saved, but the children of God walking in obedience to Him. The Apostle John said, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth'' (III John 4).
Christians are commanded to be holy (I Pet, 1:15, 16). They are to be living sacrifices (Rom. 12:1). They are to utterly forsake idolatry (Ex. 20:5). They are told to walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the fleshy desires (Gal. 5:16). They are told to stand fast in the liberty of Christ (Gal, 5:1). They are commanded to grieve not the Spirit of God (Eph. 4: 30). The Apostle said we believers ought to walk as Jesus walked (I John 2:6). Christ Himself said we should be perfect as our Heavenly Father is (Matt. 5:48). Jesus told us to set our affections on things above where He is (Col. 3:2). In Christ we are new creations (II Cor. 5:17). By His grace we have come from the hole of the pit (Isa. 51:1) to Mount Zion, the city of the Living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, into the Church of the Firstborn whose names are written in Heaven (Heb. 12:22, 23). By God's Grace we have been brought from the terrible darkness of death (Eph. 2:1) to the light of life (John 11: 6; John 8:12). We have been saved from eternal death by the blood of His dear Son (Rom. 5:9). We have been bought with a price most precious (I Pet. 1:19). We are not our own any more but His (I Cor. 6:20), and now in Christ we are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16).
Reader, do you now see why faithful John said "Little children, keep yourselves from idols" (I John 5:21)?
And can you pastors see now why you should faithfully warn your flocks against the idolatries of the mother of abominations?
Can you not see what terrible hypocrisy it is to hold out the Word of God in one hand to the souls of men, and welcome the heathen Christmas customs of Rome into your midst with the other?
You who would not think of honoring Rome's "Lady Fatima," are you annually welcoming Rome's Christ-mass into your own church?
And you pastors to whom has been committed the care of God's flock, do you not care if our church and nation drift on to disaster? Dare you stand in your pulpit between God and your people and yet not raise your voice against those idolatries which have caused America to be weighed in the balances and found wanting? O Pastor watchman, can you not see that God will require this nation's blood of your hand if you refuse to heed the handwriting on the wall, and if you allow Babylon's idolatrous pageantry and revelry to prosper in the Church of God for whom Christ died?
